Leukemia is a cancer associated with blood and bone marrow. There is abnormal multiplication of white blood cells in the body. Leukemia has two forms namely acute and chronic. The prior is characterized by rapid increase in the number of immature blood cells. The presence of such blood cells obstructs the formation of healthy blood cells in the body. The latter is characterized by proliferation of white blood cells. The bone marrow gets damaged and show abnormalities like lack of blood platelets. People suffering from leukemia bleed excessively and develop bleeds. It can be diagnosed through medical tests and in early stages can be treated with radio therapy, medications and bone marrow transplantation.
